Our Strategic Plan
In March 2007, The Trustees adopted an ambitious strategic plan (PDF)
that lays out our vision for the future. By carrying out the strategies and
actions outlined in the strategic plan, The Trustees of Reservations will engage
an extensive network of people to further land conservation and stewardship
at the local, regional, and statewide levels.
We’ll measure our success against the following outcomes:
- Together with our conservation partners, we’ve helped preserve hundreds
of thousands of additional acres that are vitally important to our quality
of life, our communities, our cultural heritage, and our state’s ecology.
- Working with the Massachusetts conservation community we are contributing
to a high standard of stewardship of protected lands across the state.
- A critical mass of the Commonwealth’s population views conserved
landscapes and landmarks as essential to society’s quality of life and
is actively working toward strong conservation outcomes across the state.
- Massachusetts is at the forefront of action in addressing climate change.
Non-profit organizations, led by the conservation community, are working with
the public sector and the business community to promote sustainable practices
in all aspects of society.
Our work will be guided four main goals:
- Focus and accelerate our land protection efforts.
- Engage and mobilize people and a broad range of partners to advocate and
act for conservation.
- Through exemplary stewardship of our properties and conservation restrictions,
lead by example and demonstrate the importance of conservation to Massachusetts
and beyond.
- Be one of the best conservation organizations in the country.
